Finally, the new prospectus of sewing classes for Q3 and Q4 is here! I’ve made sure to include some beginner friendly classes for those of you that are keen to get started with sewing. There is a bit of a change to the patchwork & quilting classes; I’m trialling running these as 3 or 6 hours classes where you learn the skills and technique for the particular design. I’m hoping this will allow me to run more variety of patchwork & quilting classes rather than running them in 6-week blocks. Fear not though, there is a new Monthly Quilters Date for you to keep the momentum going on your projects!
Our new Sewing 101: Learn to sew a tote bag is the perfect starting class for complete beginners. The Rope Bowl is a fun workshop where you can make yourself some beautiful new storage baskets for your sewing kit! If patchwork & quilting is more your thing, then why not come along and learn the techniques of Reverse Applique – use what you make in class so sew up a gorgeous cushion, or make some more blocks and make a stunning quilt. Our new Quilting 101 – Whole Cloth Baby Quilt will teach you how to get a top notch finish on your quilts with lovely quilting and a neat machine sewn binding. And for the dressmakers, we’ve got a great Sunday class where you can make a dress in a day – choose between the Tilly & The Buttons Bettine or Cleo patterns.
Kimono style jackets have been a huge trend this year – come and learn how to sew your own in this day class. For those looking to up their sewing, you can learn how to sew your Kimono with French Seams for a beautiful finish so your Kimono looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside! For a bit of fun we’ve included a Sew An Apron class – you can never have too many aprons and they make great gifts (get your Christmas sewing started early!).
We’re taking a bit of a break this month since the kids will be off school, but don’t forget all our regular monthly social groups will still be on. We’ve got a new date for the popular Genoa Tote Bag workshop.
Make a fun fabric Advent Calendar for the big and little kids in your life! We’ve also got a new Scandi Garland Panel that you can sew to make a gorgeous wreath or hanging decorations. For those of you that are fearful of sewing with jersery fabrics, then sign up to our Learn To Sew With Jersey and learn all the tips and techniques you need to get sewing with the stretchy stuff. Our Trip Around The World Quilt is a great beginners patchwork project. Over two sessions you’ll learn how to cut your fabric with a rotary cutter and how to sew up the quilt top.
We’ll have some Christmas Sewing Dates for you to get on with your handmade gifts and decorations. Dates will be announced nearer the time.
We’ve now got three regular monthly social groups that you can get involved with:
Quilters Date: 1st Tuesday of the month – August, September, October
Craft Club: 2nd Tuesday of the month –
Sewing Date: 3rd Tuesday of the month
Hopefully you’ll find something you like, and I’m looking forward to welcoming new & old faces to the Holm Sown workshop.
