Description: In this beginners dressmaking class you’ll learn how to make a pair of pyjama trousers or shorts. Learn how to sew using a commercial dressmaking pattern and use a sewing machine to construct a garment. The pyjamas will be completed with a combined elasticated/drawstring waist and you’ll learn how to sew buttonholes on the sewing machine.
Skill level: Ideally you should have some basic experience using a sewing machine, but no prior dressmaking experience is required.
Requirements: All equipment and a pyjama sewing pattern is included. You will need to bring your own fabric; recommended fabrics are cotton lawns, poplins, flannel and brushed cotton. Get 10% off all supplies purchased at Holm Sown.
Pyjama shorts: 1m of fabric at least 112cm wide.
Pyjama trousers: 2.5m of fabric 112cm wide OR 2.2m of fabric 150cm wide.
Class meets: Sunday 28th January, 10.30am – 5.00pm
Light refreshments will be provided throughout the class. For full-day workshops, please bring a packed lunch or you can pop out to one of the cafes in town.
