Shop FAQ’s

Postage Information
Fixed rate postage charge of £2.75.  All parcels are posted using Royal Mail  1st class postage. Royal Mail aims to deliver First Class the next working day, including Saturday.  Please note that Royal Mail may take up to 15 days to deliver a parcel, and an order cannot be considered lost until after this period.

We endeavour to post out your order within 24 hours of it being placed and payment being received, subject to items being in stock. The shop is closed on a Sunday and a Monday, so orders placed on a Saturday may not be posted until the following Tuesday.

If you would like to have your item sent via a tracked service please contact us for a quote. This will be charged on an ‘at cost’ basis.

We currently only post to addresses in the United Kingdom.  If you would like to order from another country then by all means get in touch and we can see if we can accomodate your order.

Our checkout uses PayPal.  Even if you don’t have a PayPal account you will still have the option to pay using a debit or credit card. Your order will be posted when your payment has cleared.
Returns Policy
Unfortunately cut fabric can not be returned.  Sewing patterns can be returned in their original sale condition within 14 days of purchase, and will issue a full refund for these items.

Items must be returned to Holm Sown, 222 King Street, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire, DG7 1DS. Postage and packaging charges will not be refunded, nor will postage costs you have incurred for returning the items to us. We recommend that you receive proof of postage for any returned items as we cannot be responsible for items lost in transit.

Ordering Fabric
We do our best to represent our products as best possible online, but colours may vary between devices.  We can provide a sample free of charge if you send a stamped addressed envelope to us.  Please get in touch with us before doing so.

You should allow up to 10% shrinkage of fabric when making your order to ensure that you have sufficient fabric for your project. It is always recommended to pre-wash your fabric in the manner that you will wash your finished project.

Particularly with craft fabric, sometimes the fabric can be distorted by the way it is wound onto the bolt meaning the print on the fabric can become offset.  Where this is the case we will endeavour to cut the fabric as accurately as possible to ensure that you have sufficient for your project.  Sometimes the cut line will intersect the pattern.
