Workshop FAQ’s

Where are the classes held?

All workshops are held at our shop, Holm Sown, in Castle Douglas.  The address is: 222 King Street, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire, DG7 1DS

What if I want to cancel my booking?

Should you change your mind, or no longer be able to attend, you can cancel your booking up to 5 days before the class starts and have a full refund.  Less than 5 days, if we are able to fill you’re place on the class then we can provide a full refund.  Otherwise the following refunds apply:

4 days – 2 days before class starts: 75% of course value

1 day before class starts: 50% of course value

day of class: no refund

If you would still like to do the class and another date is available then we will do our best to swap you to alternative dates.

What if I miss a session?

Should you find you are unable to attend a session that is part of a series of classes then you will want to schedule a private class to catch up.  It won’t be possible for us to go over all the elements you missed in subsequent sessions to allow you to catch up.

Are there any age restrictions?

Presently we only have insurance for +16 years.

How many people will there be on my class?

Our sewing classes are set with a maximum of 6 participants (unless otherwise stated).  This is to ensure you have plenty of space for your project and to make sure you get sufficient tutoring time.

Can I bring my own sewing machine?

For the beginners classes we would prefer you to use the sewing machines we provide (Janome CXL301’s).  This is to ensure that you can focus on learning the techniques in the class, that you can then go home and replicate on your own machine.   If you wish to bring your own sewing machine please get in touch with us prior to the class.

Can I use my Holm Sown gift vouchers?

Yes, vouchers can be redeemed against workshops, however, please get in touch with us directly as we currently can’t accept payment, or part-payment, with vouchers through our online booking system.
