I wanted to try and share more of the behind-the-scenes goings on, both in terms of the shop, but also things that I’ve seen in the week that interest me and that I think you might like.
Sunshine = more sewing!
What a difference a bit of sun makes! Plus we’ve been having some nice sunny days that really help to lift the mood. My sewing productivity has gone up a couple of gears and I’m really enjoying being able to sew in the evening while it is still light outside.
The Threave Quilt group met on Monday (first Monday of every month) and I was determined to have some show and tell. I’m definately someone who works to a deadline and I spent Monday quilting up my latest Bearly Brown plus quilt. I (just) managed to get the quilting done and the binding sewed on to the front.
We’re also each to make a double-sided 6″ block to end up as a string of bunting. Here is side one – Circling Geese foundation paper pieced (FPP) design.
FPP is ridiculously addictive and I just had to try out this cow design that I’d spotted on Instagram when looking at the #BlueberryParkFabric hashtag. I totally love it and already have 3 more cows planned to make a little mini quilt for the shop!
I also managed to get the buttonholes done and the armholes bound on my Deer & Doe Bruyere shirt – just need to sew the buttons on and it will be done (no pics of this one).
There are so many talented and amazing sewers out there it can be hard not to get completely distracted by what everyone else is doing! Here are some of this week’s pins :
I’m always finding new sewing bloggers…this week I came across Allie J. She has loads of really lovely makes and I really liked her recent tutorial for a fake crop top. Such a great idea!
Tickets for Stitch Gathering 2016 went on sale. This is a one-day event in bringing together modern quilters to Meet•Craft•Learn•Chat®. It is in Edinburgh on Sunday 25th September.
Are you going to the Knitting & Stitching Show? There isn’t long to go now as it is on the 28th April – 1st May. It looks like there is a good range of exhibitors and there are classes you can book onto (if there are still spaces).
Weekend sewing plans
I’ve been really slow getting the next batch of workshop dates ready (sorry!). I’ve got a couple of samples just to finish off and then, fingers crossed, I’ll have them up next week.
Hopefully the sunshine continues as well and I’ll get some photos taken this weekend and update the blog next week.
