Week in review – wk16/2016

I’m enjoying writing these summaries but they sure do make me wonder where the week slips away to!

New arrivals & coming soon

There are lots of lovely fabrics that should be arriving in the next week or so…

Fable Wood from Dashwood Studio – Joanne Cocker’s debut collection for Dashwood. Featuring leaping foxes, badgers, blooms, buds, falling leaves and tall trees; the collection takes you on a whimsical walk through the woods.

Cotton Candy – a bright collection of fun geometric and floral prints by surface pattern designer, Susan Driscoll.

Twist by Dashwood Studio – Twist is the latest basic to compliment and co-ordinate with their other collections and your latest sewing project.  I’ve ordered 5 to begin with and these are blenders I’ll look to keep in stock.

Lore by Cloud 9 – 3 stunning prints from Leah Duncan’s first collection with Cloud 9 is printed on organic quilting weight cotton.

Cotton voiles – 100% voile is soft and drapey, perfect for lining summer clothes where you want to keep them lightweight and breathable.  Available in white, navy and black.

Patterns – we are now stocking paper patterns from Noodle-head (chic and stylish bags); have Cashmerette’s new release the Concord t-shirt (designed specifically for the more curvy lady); the new Selene Skirt from Colette; and more!

Don’t forget you can always check out what’s new in the online shop.

Modern Quilt Guild

Have you heard of the Modern Quilt Guild?  A small group of us had our second meeting this week.  If you love quilting in a modern style then we’d love for you to get in touch:

I was lucky enough to set the Bee Block for the month and I chose the Wonky Star.  I can’t wait to see what fabrics the others pick…

On my sewing table

…and floor, and at the shop….a lot of WIP’s!  I had a day off sewing last Sunday and had a relaxing day at home to recharge.  I’m slightly embarrased how many projects I’ve got on the go.  I’ve made my pledge for Me Made May to wear handmade as much as possible so I’m trying to fill in some gaps in my wardrobe.

Off the top of my head I’ve got: trousers to hem; shirt to put buttons on; shirt dress cut ready to sew; t-shirt cut ready to sew (and another one of the same promised to my Mum); and another skirt and dress cut and ready to sew!  I’m going to need to get my head down and foot to the floor 🙂

I’ve managed to blog some of my recent makes so make sure you take a look: Chambray stripe Bruyere Shirt | Where’s Wally? Bowline Sweater | Skopelos Linden Sweatshirt

Coming up next week

The workshops start up again with the Flying Geese Caddy.  There are still a couple of spaces available if you’d like to come along.

Anyway, lots of exciting happenings 🙂  With the weather warming up it seems that more of you are thinking about starting your dressmaking projects.  I love to hear what you are making so please feel free to pop into the shop for a chat & I’m happy to help out with ideas if I can.
